TREK OVERVIEW

The Roopkund Trek is one of the most thrilling and mysterious journeys in the Indian Himalayas, leading trekkers to the legendary “Mystery Lake” at an altitude of 4,800 meters (15,750 ft). This glacial lake is world-famous for the centuries-old human skeletons lying at its bottom, dating back to around 850 AD, making it a destination rich in history, intrigue, and mythology.

The journey starts from Lohajung and passes through charming Himalayan villages, lush oak and rhododendron forests, and the spectacular alpine meadows of Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal — some of the most beautiful high-altitude grasslands in India. As you trek higher, the landscape transforms into rugged ridgelines, icy trails, and panoramic views of the majestic Trishul massif, offering trekkers an unforgettable adventure.

Roopkund is more than just a trek; it’s a journey into the heart of legends, spirituality, and raw Himalayan beauty. Every step tells a story — of mystery, ancient traditions, and untold adventures.
